Make an honest review easy to leave after real completed work. Give eligible customers the same neutral invitation, use a direct review link and make the request part of your completion process.
Make the request easy to act on
A technician can finish excellent work and still forget to request feedback. Start with a direct review link for the correct Business Profile. Open it on a phone and check that it identifies the right business. Keep the message short and explain who is asking.
Google provides a review link and QR-code feature. You can include the link in a thank-you message or receipt. Customers need a Google account to submit their review. Google’s link instructions explain where to find it.
Use a completion checklist instead of memory
- Confirm the work is actually complete and the customer has received the handover.
- Check the customer’s contact details and applicable messaging permission.
- Use a short invitation to share their own experience.
- Send at an appropriate local time through the agreed channel.
- Record that the request was sent so another team member does not repeat it.
For example: “Thanks for choosing [Business]. If you would like to share your experience, you can leave a Google review here: [Review link]. Thank you.” This is an illustrative template, not text Google requires.
Ask fairly and keep the choice with the customer
Google’s policies prohibit incentives and selectively soliciting positive reviews. Do not make access to the public review link depend on a customer first giving you a high satisfaction score. A support channel can be available to everyone alongside the review invitation.
Avoid supplying a rating or a script for the review itself. The customer should decide whether to review and what to say. Your team’s job is to make the request consistent, not to control the feedback.
Measure the process you control
Track completed jobs, eligible customers, successful message deliveries and new reviews over the same period. For example, 40 requests and eight new reviews gives a 20% period ratio, but does not prove those eight came from those exact messages. Review publication can be delayed and customers may arrive through another route.
Investigate broken links, duplicate requests and failed deliveries before rewriting every message. There is no guaranteed review rate. Once the manual checklist works, connect it to Google review automation to reduce missed requests.
Use the request templates, timing guide and automation checklist to implement the process.
